I am sitting here both shocked and so deeply saddened by this. I have such a mixed set of emotions that I am not sure what to think or even to put into words what this news brings. So many years ago his very irrational act of violence too...k away one of the most important people in my life, scarred many people, and changed the lives of everyone I loved. My girls will never know my sister, Betsy Chasko, I was robbed of any memories passed the day she was killed. Yet my parents strived to find forgiveness and try to somehow understand why this tragic event happened to my 16 year old sister and to anyone who knew her. I learned so much for their ability to forgive...not because the person who killed her asked or necessarily deserved it, but because it meant they could find true peace and move on the best you can.
No one wanted this person to spend years behind bars for a careless act of a young person who had so many horrible thing happen in his 17 years. It's good to know he went on to help and make a positive impact on young people. There is justice outside of a courtroom.
I'm so sad tonight.....sadly reminded of how much I've missed my sister.....but so much more sad that there are grieving loved ones who lost someone important to them. Twenty-seven years is a long time to learn and grow from Betsy's death.....but looking into the eyes of the person that ended her time here on earth is also so painful. Prayers for him, his loved ones and for family who waits for me in heaven.

I feel very strange leaving a comment since I don't know you or your sister. I had Patrick Stark as a Psychology professor at Dixie State University. I was very saddened and surprised upon hearing of his sudden death. Reading your post has helped me to understand a little more about Patrick and answer some questions I had. Clearly he had a very hard life, and I am extremely sorry for the loss of your sister. I found your post very uplifting to read how you and your family have been able to somehow forgive and move forward after such an incredible loss. Thank you for posting, and again I am sorry for the loss you and your family have experienced.
I went to school with your sister at Sentinel. I was a grade ahead of her but I was good friends with her boyfriend, Shawn. She was a beautiful smart girl. It was horrible for us all a high school dealing with her death. We just never had anything like that. The grief your parents had, was terrible. I have no idea why I googled Pat and found this site. I was hoping he had changed. I am glad he did and had a family. Sorry he passed. Wishing you and your family the best.
Hello,
I know this is some time after this post was written, but I was wondering if I could contact you for more information regarding this difficult time in your life. My name is Kara, and Patrick was my father. I never got to meet him in person and want to get more information about him and this situation in particular.
I understand if talking to me will be too difficult, but I would appreciate an e-mail.
Thank you, and I am so sorry for your loss.
