Working The Holiday

I'ts incredibly quiet here at work.  I'm not completely alone....there are three other people working quietly this 4th of July.

It's not been as bad as I thought it might be.  The normal and constant buzz of the phones is absent and I like it.  It's a nice change from the calls that come back to back.  So far (it's 3:30pm) I've taken a total of 10 calls. That's about 1/8 of the number of calls I'd usually have taken by now.  Certainly makes me appreciate how hard I feel I work, and my co-workers.

The downside of working this holiday is that Walt is at home.  I have not felt compelled to call or text him.  I know he's busying himself at home with whatever he had on his list to do but I don't care.  Is that bad of me?  Two days off a week we spend together is MORE than enough for me right now.

Thank goodness for my Ipad and the internet....I've managed to keep myself busying watching Netflix and playing games on FB.  Not bad for earning time and a half for doing nearly nothing but simply showing up.

Maybe this is my Independence Day?
